While writing pumpkin poetry, this is what I heard a child say! We made overlapping pumpkins in the computer lab using KidPix. We also brainstormed about pumpkins using Kidspiration. A 12 x 18 inch piece of yellow construction paper was folded in half hamburger bun style. The KidPix drawing was glued on the top as you open the paper up from top to bottom. The poetry was written by describing a pumpkin using the 5 senses. When the paper was folded, the title,"Pumpkin,"was written decorating the letters with pumpkin stickers, crayons, markers, etc.
An example of a poem: bright orange like basketballs, ( sight)
ooey gooey stringy insides , (touch)
seeds roasting in the oven, ( smell)
spicy, salty seeds crunch in your mouth (taste)
thump thump, as you drum on its hard shell ( hearing)
