Native American Books

As we study about the first Thanksgiving, I am thinking about how to make a book about the Wampanoags. My idea is to make a deer skin bag where the contents of the book will be inside the bag. My plan is to use brown construction paper, have the students paint Native American picture writing on the front. Laminate both a front and a back piece, then punch holes and sew together with yarn. Facts will be written on large index cards which fit inside the pouch. A shoe string strap will complete the book. I will post pictures when they are finished later this week.
