Today, we started our Second Grade Poetry Anthologies. The title of this book is, "I'm a Poet and I Know It!" The title page is written definitions of the words,"poetry and anthology."
Our first poem was a poem about themselves. The students were given a rubric with fill in the blanks. For example, I like the colors ___, _____,______ or My favorite books are____,_________,_____.
These were typed into a WORD document with an inserted picture of the student behind the text. The title was their name done in WORDART.
We have been reading many poems. The students chose their favorite poetry and illustrated it. This really helped them to understan
d the power of using words that are descriptive.
Scribble Poetry- Each child made a scribble and turned it into something, then they wrote poems. This picture is of the poem entitled," The Blue Whale."

Little Blue Whale , happy as can be!
