After reading I Pledge Allegiance By Bill Martin Jr. and Michael Sampson, we made our own books describing what the words mean in the Pledge. We made American flags by cutting and glueing construction paper. Each page was designed with torn paper . The words to the pledge were interpreted by the students. For example. I pledge allegiance- I promise my loyalty etc.
