owls and glue batik

Glue batik is the perfect media for artistic owls. I used unbleached muslim fabric torn into rectangles, any size will do.
My students sketched owls and then drew lightly with a pencil on their cloth. the pencil lines were traced over with glue gel and let to dry. Once the glue was dried, acrylic paint was applied. After the paint dried, the cloth was soaked in hot water until the glue dissolved. I then put the whole batch of artwork into my clothes drier. Made a casing on top with embroidery floss using a running stitch and sewed on button eyes. A stick or dowel was inserted into the casing and a yarn hanger tied on.
