This week, we made Penguin books. We researched interesting facts about penguins, breaking the information down into categories: habitat, diet, anatomy, and great facts. The cover was made using a collage technique- a black and white penguin on pattern craft paper. The information was written on lined paper with a penguin border. The week would not be complete without Helen Lester's Tacky books. Using pattern craft paper, I cut our shirts for their "odd birds "and then the children created Tacky using the shirt as a base. Goldfish crackers and chicken noodle soup in the crock pot was a great snack to celebrate our studies!
