This project is new to me, so I will write as I go.... The first thing that I did was to send home a list of 10 inventions such as velcro, post it notes, etc. Each child was to choose one invention and with their family's help, find how who invented it, when and where. I plan on having the students use this information to make posters to teach each other about the invention. The next thing we are going to do, is design our own inventions. The students each brainstormed something that they would like to make their life easier. They wrote descriptive sentences explaining their invention and drew diagrams. Trademarks were made using clipart and insert-shapes in microsoft Word. These were all put into a book. The cover was made on black cardstock with cut out letters-"Invent" and definitions of the word, "Invent", were written on the cover with silver sharpie markers. The example here of the Cat-Bot was a robot that looked like a cat and took care of all of her pet cat's needs.
