We combined a little Van Gogh with a little Eric Carle to create sunflowers.
I brought in sunflower heads which we examined with magnifying glasses as part of a plant unit we are doing in science. Then we looked at how VanGogh painted sunflowers and how Eric Carle used glue and tissue paper to create his art.
1. Draw the center of the sunflower by filling in a circle with a brown and black crayon rubber banded together.
2. Cut out tissue paper petals and adhere using a mixture of white glue and water.
3. Add tissue paper stems and leaves.
4. Fill in the background with water colors.
